Samal Island is known for its resorts. In fact, not too many people know there are more to Samal than beaches and shorelines. It still amazes me when some locals in Davao don't even know there is a road system on the island, a car ferry from the mainland to Samal, nice residential houses and subdivisions, not to mention cable TV, internet access and wireless phones. This article is another pictorial of Samal people and lifestyles.

Hi Randy, sorry, meant to name all the pics. The last picture was taken at Precious Garden - Ulli's pizza and coffee place. Nice place.

Hi Kevin, welcome to the site. I give credit to my sister in law, Olaug, who biked the whole Samal Island already. i think the locals are getting used to seeing her around, even in the very remote places. The market is in Babak. The ones that display their produce on the ground are there only on the weekends. There is another market, i was told, and I will present the pictures from there soon.

Hi Ellen, thanks for the nice pics. Just out of curiosity: I've seen a big ferry elsewhere in Your blog. Is there also a bus serving places in Samal Island ?

Hello Rudy, yes, there are buses serving the main roads here (Babak, Penaplata and Kaputian), and Davao - to Agdao Public market and Magsaysay Park terminals.
