Sta. Ana Wharf, at approximately 07 04.5 N, 125 37.7 E, is the Port's official Quarantine anchorage for incoming yachts. It has 2 wharves (piers) for tying up to, but incoming vessels may anchor about 10 meters away in good holding mud bottom, just be wary of submerged pilings and shaols.
Facilities and Features of the wharves:
Pier I - 22m x 104m
Pier II - 15m x 90m
Open storage area (paved) - 15,000 sq. meter
Total back-up area - 37,000 sq. meter
Administrative Office building
After clearance, you may berth at any of the wharves, bow to, with a long stern anchor rode. Just stay clear of heavy ferry traffic. The southern wharf is in very bad condition, but is adequate.
The wharf is close to Magsaysay Park and to Chinatown. This whole area gives me good memories of when I was young. This was where we boarded a passenger ferry boat to go to Samal every Sunday, following my eldest brother. Now, I just have vague memories of snorkelling around Talikud and the Liguid Islands.
I have heard of plans of building up the Sta. Ana wharf into a Fisherman's wharf, somewhat similar to San Francisco. If this is the case, it would really be nice there - a good tourist destination. As of now, this is how it looks like.
